What do you expect?

What can I say my first trip to belgrade and
Bucharest . Francesco and I had high hopes and the
whole weekend got off to a bad start with the non
arrival of francescos drum equipment ! So sadly we
had to seriously improvise for both shows ! The first
show in Belgrade was interesting as I saw all the
debris of war on the way . bombed out hq’s and
fighter jets at the airport . The people in Belgrade
were super nice and looked after us well but we had
some problems with power supply (there was none) .
Anyway usually I get well wound up but today I was
cool and quite happy with a beer waiting for the
sound check to come ! As it was outdoors I think I
was relaxed enough in this fine summer evening !
The show itself was good (I thought) when we got sound ,but the people were just standing watching , perhaps the tempo was not high enough ? or too high I am not sure ? francesco and I had fun which is usually a good sign!
Anyway on to Bucharest via Milan ? it was damn humid in this town and I was knackered (3 hours aint enough) .After arriving and checking to see if the equipment was coming as alitalia promised , We headed straight for the soundcheck through rocky roads and begging ladies at traffic lights. I couldn’t believe the amount of porsches and 4 x 4 s I saw . this was posher than London , well a few had big bucks anyway ! Capitalism gone mad ! Very sad to see so many suffering though while the rich get richer .
The club was big and empty and we checked what we could still hoping for the kit to arrive (it never did) …dinner was Italian as usual and the carnonara was delightful !
AS for the show - So once again a improvised affair to 50 people L I wasn’t to happy and the dj before was kinda boring . when we got to play , it all started well and I was into it then this kid comes up and hands me a note stating “ you are supposed to be swayzak, not mass swayzak, mass swayzak is shit “ well I wasn’t too happy and wanted to stop then and there but I guess I couldn’t. I appreciate peoples opinions but not during the set ! Anyway sorry to those who were disappointed but it was that or no show at all ! I am not sure what people expect us to play , our sound goes from deep minimal sounds to poppier tunes but when you play in a club you gotta make them dance - especially when theres a small crowd and you want paying. I hate looking at empty spaces and wondering ! some you win some you lose...
Now some good news – k7 our label have agreed to extend our deal and we shall be making new albums very soon ! James and myself have begun this process, so look out! this weekend off to bore some people in Glasgow, munich and kassel ……….

This week we supposed to play in rome at the balibasa
"renaissance italia" festival. such
is the nature of this business , someone fucked up
and we are not going. its a shame as we are billed as
headliners alongside karl bartos of kraftwerk fame .
Sometimes i feel cursed so i been doing lots of good deeds this week. but still the gods frown on me , these roman gods especially !
But hail caeser .......
When a band is billed and then the promoter refuses to pay for our flights , he (or she) makes money on our name, and we dont get paid :-( its a cruel business as these days many of our so called fans download our music from emule and think its ok cos we make $$$. Well we dont and eventaully if it continues like this there will be no music industry left . save some $$$ and buy our friggin music .......
if you do buy our music , thanks very much ! and i see we got nearly 10,000 myspace buddies , so that should help! Your buddies always help you out right ? Anyway if you could all lend me some money then i can keep doing this music game or you could buy our record /cd /mp3 ...but please buy
my plan is if you can prove you bought our new album (out august) then we will put you on our guest list when we come to town , you will get free drinks and maybe a lift home after the gig .....
still working out how proof will work but will get back to you on this !!!! (I like this plan, lets try and work it out - matt)
